Commonly known as: Morning Glory, Railway Creeper
Origin: Africa
Description: Introduced to Singapore as an ornamental, but has since run wild. The leaves have 5 radiating lobes of which the outer two may have two lobes. Its flowers bloom in the morning and are closed by afternoon.
Ixora javanica (Rubiaceae)

Commonly known as: Japanese Ixora; Khem (Thai); Iksora, Soka, Kempang asoka (Malay, Indonesian)
Origin: SE Asia, including Singapore
Description: A 3m-high sturdy, free flowering shrub that thrives under a variety of conditions. One of the most popular garden plants in SE Asia. Its flowers occur in clusters at the ends of the branches.
Lumnitzera littorea (L. coccinea; Combretaceae)
Nature: Tree of the Mangroves
Commonly known as: Red Teruntum
Origin: Unknown
Description: The plant flowers when quite young. It has shiny, fleshy leaves and red flowers. It grows on firmer and better-drained shores than those favoured by most mangrove species.
