LABRADOR PARK
The existing 17-hectare Labrador Park and Tanjong Berlayer Park were redeveloped together in 1996. Now the two parks are an entity, retaining the name of Labrador Park.
The unique features of these parks are being preserved during the redevelopment process. This includes the secondary forest, which Labrador Park is famous for. Nature lovers and botanists will still be able to find the groves of Tembusu, Eugenia grandis and Vitex species. Plants of special interest, which are rarely found elsewhere, will prevail in this park. These include the Dracaena maingayi and Dipteris conjugata.
Labrador Park is famous for its war relics and bunkers. In the redevelopment plan, the existing tunnels will be preserved. The improved footpath will lead visitors into the tunnels. The existing beach with its unique ecology is yet another feature of this park. In all, not only does the park exlude an air of peace and tranquillity, it has also much natural, historical and recreational values.
New features of the park include an Aerial Walk along the cliffs of the Park which offers a panoramic view of the sea front, a wind sculpture that was created by a Swiss innovator, a fitness course that is challenging and a children playground with the theme "Creatures of the Sea" attached to it.
